System proxy vs TUN mode
System proxy and TUN solve the same problem in completely different ways. One hangs a sign in the operating system and hopes programs read it; the other builds a network interface and takes the packets directly.

Enable TUN mode correctly
With TUN the order matters more than the switch itself: get the system proxy working first, install service mode second, and only then turn TUN on. Skip the first two and you cannot tell which layer failed.

Fix no internet after enabling proxy
When the client is running and nothing loads, resist the urge to edit the config. Walk back to a bare connection, bring the system proxy up on its own, then add one thing at a time until it breaks.
